Vaiduryam Stone

Vaiduryam — also written as Vaidurya — is the classical Sanskrit and South Indian name for Cat's Eye, known as Lehsunia in Hindi. It is the Ratna of Ketu, the south lunar node and shadow planet in Vedic astrology. Vaiduryam is a variety of Chrysoberyl that displays chatoyancy — a striking optical phenomenon where a sharp, luminous band of silvery-white light moves across the surface of the stone, resembling the slit eye of a cat. This phenomenon, known as the silky eye, is the defining quality of Vaiduryam and the primary indicator of its astrological potency. Read More...

Colour & Quality: The finest Vaiduryam displays a honey-golden to yellowish-green body colour with a sharp, well-centred, bright chatoyant band. The clarity and sharpness of the eye directly determines astrological and commercial value. Stones with a dull, broken, or off-centre eye are significantly lower in value.

Origin: Ceylon (Sri Lanka) produces the world's finest Vaiduryam — valued for its sharp eye, excellent transparency, and rich body colour. Indian Cat's Eye is also available at more accessible price points.

Astrological Use: Vaiduryam is worn to pacify Ketu, provide protection from sudden losses, and activate Ketu's higher qualities of spiritual insight, intuition, and detachment. It is one of the fastest-acting gemstones in the Navratna system.

Price: Natural certified Vaiduryam ranges from ₹1,500 to ₹25,000+ per carat depending on the sharpness of the eye, body colour, clarity, and origin.

Shubh Gems offers 100% natural certified Vaiduryam in Silver or Panchdhatu settings — certified by IGI, GIA, or IIGJ. Over 25 years of trust. Own the gemstone that sees what others cannot.
