What is Amazonite?

Amazonite is a blue-green variety of microcline — a potassium aluminium silicate mineral (KAlSi₃O₈) belonging to the feldspar family, one of the most abundant mineral groups in the earth's crust. Pure microcline is typically white or pale yellow; Amazonite's distinctive aqua-green to turquoise-green colour is caused by trace amounts of lead and water within the crystal structure — a geological combination that produces one of the most immediately beautiful and most naturally soothing colours found in any healing crystal.

Amazonite forms in large, opaque masses with a characteristic silky to vitreous lustre and natural white streaks or veins running through its blue-green body — a naturally occurring pattern that gives each piece of Amazonite its own unique visual character.
