Why Unheated and Untreated Matters

Only natural, unheated, untreated gemstones carry the full and unmodified planetary energy required to deliver genuine astrological results.

Heat Treatment — The Most Common Problem

The vast majority of coloured gemstones available in the Indian and global market have been subjected to heat treatment — a high-temperature process that permanently alters the crystal's internal structure to improve its colour or clarity.

Heat treatment is so widespread that it is considered standard industry practice for many gemstones. The key Navratna stones most commonly subjected to heat treatment include:

• Ruby (Manik) — heat treatment to improve colour and remove silk inclusions; unheated Ruby commands the highest premium and is the most astrologically potent
• Blue Sapphire (Neelam) — heating to intensify blue colour; unheated Ceylon Blue Sapphire is exceptionally rare and most valuable
• Yellow Sapphire (Pukhraj) — heating to remove colour zoning and improve saturation; unheated Pukhraj is confirmed by laboratory certificate
• Emerald (Panna) — clarity enhancement with oils and resins is standard; minor clarity enhancement may be accepted but significant treatment reduces astrological value
• Red Coral (Moonga) — dyeing to intensify red colour; only natural unbleached, undyed coral carries Mars energy

Laboratory Certification — Non-Negotiable

For astrological gemstones, certification from a reputed gemological laboratory — GIA, IGI, GJI, or IIGJ — is not optional.

A laboratory certificate confirms the gemstone's identity, its natural origin, its treatment status, and its key quality parameters. Never purchase an astrological gemstone without a laboratory certificate confirming it as natural and untreated.
