Japa Mala (Rosary)

A Japamala (rosary) is a string of prayer beads used in meditation. It is used to keep count while chanting so that one can focus on the meaning and sound of the mantra. Japa meditation reduces stress, calms the mind, cultivates positive emotions, increases inner strength and improves heart health. Japmala also provides the benefits of the transformative powers of the gemstone bead used in the mala. A japamala usually consists of 108 beads with a 109th guru bead and tassels. The number 108 is sacred and has limitless significance across physical, scientific and religious beliefs.
